Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao forces hairdresser to travel 200 miles for 'emergency' blowdry

Seems Cristiano Ronaldo isn't the most vain footballer on planet earth after all! Chelsea on-loan striker Radamel Falcao told a hairdresser also used by Cristiano Ronaldo to fly from Manchester to London, a 200 mile trip just to blow dry his hair.

The 30 year old Colombian striker's curly hair hasn't been seen by most football fans this season because of his constant struggle with injuries, but that didn't stop him from calling on popular Manchester based hairdryer Ed Mascarenhas to save him from a bad hair day.

Speaking about the last minute dash, the hair stylist revealed:
“I was more than happy to help Radamel out with his emergency. “He does love the Brazilian blow dry treatment that we offer. The treatment is revolutionary. “It smooths and sleeks the hair giving the client manageable hair that takes very little styling. It took around two hours to do but the results will last him a couple of months.”
Ed styled him last year for the big red carpet Player of the Year event at Man U, chopping off Falcao’s shoulder-length locks for the first time in nine years. The hairdresser was introduced to Falcao by fellow football star Cristiano Ronaldo, 31, who is also a big fan of Ed’s.

Photos: Man. U kit sponsors, Adidas, mock Van Gaal's 'boring' style of play with new shirts

Sportswear giant, Adidas has mocked Manchester United's boring style of play this season by releasing some branded tops this week to be sold in the Old Trafford club shop. An Old Trafford staff member told The Sun they were embarrassed to be selling the top on the back of the tepid football currently being played by Van Gaal’s men.

He said: “It only came in a couple of weeks ago. “I can’t believe we are stocking it, it surely is something which should have come out at the the start of the season, rather than after such bad results.” Another photo after the cut. A fan gave a lukewarm reaction to the new item, which also comes in a £45 sweatshirt version.

Ian Mayo, 36, said: “I wouldn’t wear it ,what’s the point of a T-shirt, they should just take action instead and sack the manager.”

Adidas signed a ten-year £750million kit deal with United last summer. But even Adidas' CEO Herbert Hainer criticised Man u's style of play. “Business with Man United is going very well ,we are selling more shirts than expected. We are satisfied... even if the current playing style is not exactly what we want to see.”

'I was mad at Kylie': Kanye West reveals Kylie secretly signed Puma deal without him knowing

Just last week Kanye West declared on twitter that there will never be a Kylie Puma anything, not knowing that Kylie had already signed a deal with Puma. The 38 year old rapper revealed he wasn't consulted about Kylie Jenner's new partnership with Puma, and he was pissed off about it.

Kanye revealed to TMZ on Wednesday as he was making his way into the terminal at LAX that he had no idea that his sister in law blindsided him by secretly signing with his athletic wear competitor Puma: ''She had already signed and I was mad for a little bit... but I'm really happy for her though.'

He also shed a bit more light on his financial situation:
"I spent 53 million over the past 13 years chasing my dreams and I wanted to make sure all entrepreneurs that it's possible to go under and still make it out.
You know with my shoes I know I'm going to make it better but there's times it was definitely hard, there was times it was a struggle, there were times it was frustrating because it felt like if you make the Yeezys maybe someone will come out and support you.
It felt like if you are a dope artist then maybe someone will support you, but that didn't happen. The only company that ever supported me was Adidas, without Adidas I wouldn't have had his fashion show at Madison Square Garden or even been inspired for my new album The Life Of Pablo."

It was announced earlier this week that the Kylie Jenner signed a deal with Puma and has even wrapped shooting her first campaign with them.

Hmm...look at what MTO figured out about Kanye's rants. It's eerie

MediaTakeOut claims that Kanye West's twitter rants in the last few weeks have a meaning. Read what they wrote below and tell us if you see any sense in it...
Remember all those Twitter rants that Kanye has been doing lately. People in the media have been dissecting them wondering what Yeezy was really doing. Welp, turns out he was just trolling us all in the biggest "Twitter performance art" ever done.
If you read the FIRST letter of all his Tweets, it spells out, "I Am Lord Voldemort." Lord Voldermort is Harry Potter's ARCH ENEMY in both the book and the movies.
We're no art critic, but it seems like Yeezy is trying to tell us something about being a VILLAIN. Well done Kanye.

Anti Beyoncé rally flops in New York as only 3 people show up

When Beyonce appeared in the SuperBowl half time event, flanked by all-black squadron of leather clad dancers wearing berets, she immediately stole the show with a routine peppered with black power references.
Then came the backlash from viewers annoyed that nods to Malcolm X and the Black Lives Matter movement had turning the sporting interval into a political platform.

But on Tuesday, only a handful of protesters turned up for anti-Beyonce rally outside American Football's New York headquarters.

They were outnumbered by the singers' supporters and campaigners with Black Lives Matter banners.

Ariel Kohane said he attended the protest because Beyonce's new song, Formation, was a call to violence against the police.
"Some of us are surprised that there are only a couple of us out here today," he told New York magazine's The Cut. "It is scheduled from 8 to 4pm. It's a business day. Also, the weather; the rain turned a lot of people away."
Witnesses said he was one of only three people (including one person who said he had not even seen the halftime show) to heed the call to protest by a new group, called Proud of the Blues.
“We encourage anyone and everyone who supports the police to show up and march around the block of the NFL headquarters on this day. Be absolutely peace and non-aggressive,” the group said in its invitation.
“Let's show the world that it's not necessary to be disruptive to America while conveying an effective message to the masses.”
And there was certainly little disruption outside the offices of the National Football League, where police had cordoned off part of Park Avenue for the protesters.

In fact they were outnumbered by about 30 of Beyonce's fans, who carried banners saying “Pro black doesn't mean anti white,” and “Get information,” a line from the new song.

Florida family mourns loss of third child to inherited syndrome

A Florida family is mourning the loss of their 10-year-old daughter after an inherited condition that also claimed the lives of two of their other children took her life as well.

Naples Daily News reported that Erin Mading and her husband, Benjamin, had five children when they learned about Lynch syndrome, an inherited condition that increases the risk of colon cancer and other types of cancer.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) estimates that among the 140,000 new cases of colorectal cancers diagnosed annually, about 3 to 5 percent are caused by Lynch syndrome.

Isabella, who was diagnosed when she was 7, died Saturday, Feb. 6, at age 10, after suffering from a brain tumor linked with the syndrome. Cody, Isabella’s 17-year-old  brother, died in 2010, and her sister Averi died three years later at age 17. They were both diagnosed with Lynch syndrome too.

Erin Mading, Isabella’s mother, told the newspaper that Isabella “just flourished” during the last year of her life, and she described her as “the social butterfly of our street.”

NaplesNews.com reported that the Madings relocated from Bonita Springs, Fla. to Pittsburgh so

Isabella could undergo an experimental infusion therapy that was part of Bristol-Meyers Squibb’s compassionate drug program. On Halloween 2015, Isabella began the treatment, which targeted the cancer in her brain and that doctors administered every two weeks. Despite undergoing seven infusions and surgery to reduce swelling, Isabella’s tumor kept growing, the newspaper reported.
“It was just more than we expected,” Erin, 41, also mother to 20-year-old Kylie and 15-year-old Olivia, told NaplesNews.com.
According to the Mayo Clinic, if one of the parents possesses a gene mutation for Lynch syndrome, there's a 50 percent chance they'll pass it along to each of their children. NaplesNews.com didn’t report whether Kylie and Olivia have been diagnosed with the syndrome.

Erin said Isabella wanted to become a nurse when she grew up. Watching medical professionals interact with her brother and sister as they underwent treatment inspired her career choice.
"[Isabella] grew up in a hospital with her brother and her sister,” Erin told the newspaper. “She had a wisdom beyond her years."

Pope loses his cool with person who almost knocked him down (photos)

Pope Francis, who is usually calm and accommodating with his admirers, clearly lost his temper with a person who pulled on him so hard that he fell onto a child on a wheel chair. Video footage showed that while the pope was walking at the edge of a crowd in a stadium, he stopped to greet children who were sitting.

Two arms reached out to grab him and the person would not let go, even after the pope lost his balance and his chest was pressing on the child's head.

Aides and security men stopped the pope from falling to the ground.
After he returned to an upright position, his face turned angry.
He looked at the person, raised his voice and said twice in Spanish: "Don't be selfish!"
It was not clear if the person who pulled the pope was a man or a woman.

Chinese journalist banned from flying to US to accept a prize for his work

A pioneering journalist who fought to expose the deaths of tens of millions of his fellow citizens in China’s Great Famine has been banned from leaving the country to accept a prize for his work in the United States.
Yang Jisheng, a retired correspondent from Beijing’s official news service Xinhua, was awarded Harvard University’s prestigious Louis M Lyons Award in December for his “ambitious and fearless reporting” on one of the 20th century’s deadliest man-made catastrophes.
The prize, which Yang had hoped to collect at a ceremony in Massachusetts next month, was in recognition of his 2008 book Tombstone.

The 1,200-page work – considered the most authoritative account of a tragedy China’s Communist leaders still attempt to conceal – meticulously documents the horrific toll of the 1958-1961 famine in which the author estimates at least 36 million lives were lost, including that of his own father.

Announcing its decision to honour Yang last year, Harvard said it hoped to recognise courageous and dedicated journalists who were battling to “document the dark and difficult struggles of humankind”.
However, the Guardian understands that Xinhua, the state-run news agency for which Yang worked, has forbidden the 75-year-old author from travelling to the US to collect the award.
In a brief response to a faxed request for comment, a Xinhua spokesperson said: “[W]e never heard Mr Yang received an award, so we are not able to give you any response.”
In a statement, the co-chairs of the Lyons Award, Hamish Macdonald and Debra Adams Simmons, said: “We remain optimistic that Chinese journalist and author Yang Jisheng will be granted permission to travel to Harvard University on Thursday 10th March 2016 to accept the annual Louis M Lyons Award.
“We are following all necessary steps to enable Mr Yang to travel to Harvard in March. We have no formal indication of any problem and look forward to welcoming Mr Yang.”
Contacted by telephone on Monday, Yang, who lives in Beijing, declined to discuss the situation.
Yang Jisheng was born in the central province of Hubei in 1940, nine years before Chairman Mao’s communists seized power.
As a young man he was a committed member of the Communist party, which he joined in 1964. After graduating from Beijing’s elite Tsinghua University in 1966 he quickly secured a job at Xinhua where he worked until his retirement in 2001.
But Yang’s enthusiasm for the party faded as he journeyed across China on reporting trips and came to grasp the scale of the human tragedy Mao’s Great Leap Forward push for industrialisation had unleashed on his country.
“The chief culprit was Mao,” Yang later recalled in an interview.
In the early nineties, further disillusioned by the 1989 Tiananmen massacre, the journalist began secretly piecing together the famine’s hidden history as a way of remembering those who had died.
He roamed the country, surreptitiously building up an extensive body of first-hand interviews and documentary evidence about a disaster that has been described as China’s hidden Holocaust.

“I just had a very strong desire to find out the facts,” Yang told the Guardian in 2012. “I was cheated and I don’t want to be cheated again.”
Yang’s unprecedented investigation - first published in Hong Kong in 2008 and unavailable to this day in mainland China - earned him plaudits around the world.

The author has received a succession of international awards for his work and was previously able to travel overseas to receive them.

In November last year Yang visited Sweden to accept the Stieg Larsson award in recognition of the “journalistic courage he has shown in finding and telling the truth” about the Great Famine.
The travel ban is the latest sign of the increasingly toxic political climate in China.
Since Xi Jinping came to power in late 2012 academics, journalists, authors, lawyers and activists have all complained of increasing pressure from authorities.
Experts say many talented young Chinese journalists are abandoning the profession, partly because of their frustration at intensifying censorship.

Historians meanwhile complain that securing access to government archives containing material about sensitive periods such as the Great Famine has become increasingly difficult.
In the introduction to the English edition of his book, Yang said his 15-year inquiry into the famine was an attempt to expose how a totalitarian system had attempted to forcibly eradicate all memory of the disaster.
“A tombstone is memory made concrete. Human memory is the ladder on which a country and a people advance,” he wrote. “I erect this tombstone so that people will remember and henceforth renounce man-made calamity, darkness and evil.”
Frank Dikötter, the author of Mao’s Great Famine, said the decision to prevent Yang travelling to the US underscored the deteriorating political situation.
“I’m not really surprised in that [over] the last two if not three years there really has been a very chilling effect on historians and more generally anybody who writes critically about the past,” he said.
“That has become very clear in the last year or so. It is very sad,” Dikötter added.
“In a nutshell, it has been made pretty clear by decree that undermining the credibility of the Communist party by querying episodes of the history of the CCP [Chinese Communist party] or questioning some of its leading figures, meaning Chairman Mao, is not desirable.”
Dikötter described Yang’s work on the Great Famine as “essential”. “It will take somebody from China to grind the reputation of Chairman Mao into dust,” he said.

Philippines to auction former first lady's jewelry collection valued at about £14.5million

The jewelry collection of Philippines' former first lady, Imelda Marcos, valued at about £14.5million is to be sold by the Philippines government. The jewels were seized in 1986 when dictator Ferdinand Marcos and his family fled to Hawaii following a popular revolt that ended his 2 decades in power.

Now, 30 years later, the government has approved the auction of the collection, which includes a 25-carat rare pink Indian diamond which was probably cut in the 18th century worth at least £3.5million, officials said.

It is alleged that the dictators family amassed billions of dollars in ill-gotten wealth, his wife, Imelda, who is now a member of congress, was famed for her excesses of which her huge shoe collection was a symbol. The government had formerly tried to auction the jewelry collection in 2005 but that move was contested by Imelda who claimed ownership of two of the three sets, she has vowed to recover what she sees as her family's assets.

The couple's only son, Ferdinand, who is a senator, is in the race for vice president in the countries February elections and the polls show him to be a strong contender.
